Fan system retrofit for an electroplating park's waste-gas treatment

The full path from baseline measurement to verified acceptance — this page also serves as the template for case detail pages.

Illustrative case · all figures are layout placeholders and must be replaced with verified data before launch
Before and after: an ageing belt-driven fan on the left, the installed 3rd-generation intelligent fan on the right
Case Summary
Industry
Electroplating (East China · anonymised)
Fleet
4 × 22 kW
Annual run time
approx. 8,000 hours
Objective
Lower energy use · stable extraction · auditable data
Commercial model
EMC (energy performance contract)
Project period
Oct 2025 – Jan 2026 (measurement window)
The challenge

Four fixed-frequency belt-driven fans ran flat out year-round, so the bill was always set by peak conditions. Belts were replaced quarterly, and when extraction fell short the escaping acid mist drew a warning from environmental inspectors. Management wanted a retrofit but had no data to answer the only question that mattered: how much would it actually save?

Results

Three figures, before and after, on the same basis

Before · annual consumption
704MWh
4 × 22 kW fixed-frequency belt-driven fans
After · annual consumption
443MWh
4 × 3rd-generation intelligent fans
Overall saving
−37%
≈ ¥196k saved per year
Method: the baseline is three months of platform measurement before the retrofit; measurement window Oct 2025 – Jan 2026; conditions are three-shift continuous production. Saving rate = (annualised baseline consumption − annualised post-retrofit consumption) ÷ annualised baseline consumption, with cost calculated at the project's blended tariff.
How It Was Done

Five steps, with production never interrupted

01
Site survey
Equipment, ductwork and shift patterns recorded
02
Baseline measurement
Three months of platform-measured consumption before the retrofit
03
Proposal and agreement
Selection, EMC revenue share and verification method agreed in writing
04
Installation
Replaced in two batches within shutdown windows
05
Acceptance review
Post-retrofit measurements compared and an accounting report issued
